Vibrant Blue Essential Oils FAQs

How do I know what essential oils are best for me?

Great Question! Everyone is different and the best oils for each individual will depend upon which of the following systems are out of balance:

  • Sleep
  • Stress
  • Digestion
  • Inflammation
  • Detoxification
  • Blood Sugar

Vibrant Blue Oils are designed to support all of these areas where the body can fall out of balance.   The key is to find which particular area is the most out of balance in your system and start there. Sometimes the act of supporting the weakest link can help support the entire system.   This article (Where do I start with Essential Oils) and these checklists (Self Assessments for Essential Oils) can help you identify where to start for yourself or your family.

What are the benefits of Vibrant Blue Oils proprietary blends?

Vibrant Blue Oil blends have been created with the intention of bringing the body, brain and emotions into balance so the body can heal. In many ways, blends are more powerful than single oils. They are created when several single essential oils have been synergistically combined to create something that is greater than the sum of its parts.

The combination yields not only the power of the combined chemical constituents and frequencies, but also the synergy of how they interact together. This means that the respective powers of the individual oils change to enhance their energy. For example, the anti-inflammatory effects of chamomile are increased when combined with lavender.

The Vibrant Blue Oils Body, Brain and Emotion Balance lines include uniquely formulated, proprietary blends developed to balance organ systems and support optimal healing. These blends have been designed to work in tandem with dietary changes, providing specific plant and herb nutrients to support healing in a bio-available form that even those with digestive challenges can easily assimilate.

Many practitioners report the experience of seeing the client’s body completely shift after applying the blends. We are both excited and encouraged by the potential of essential oil blends to dramatically assist in challenging areas of our practices and are committed to ongoing research and product development in that area.

What is the benefit of your blends over single oils?

Vibrant Blue Oil blends have been created with the intention of bringing the body into balance so clients can heal.

While we carry a few single oils that we find to be amazing in their healing potential, we have found that in many ways, blends are more powerful than single oils. Our blends are created by synergistically combining several powerful  single essential oils to create something that is greater than the sum of the parts.

What is frequency and how does it pertain to essential oils?

Frequency is a measurable rate of electrical energy that is constant between any 2 points.  Our bodies are electrical and everything around us has electrical frequencies.  Essential oils have a coherent, harmonic frequency, so they are harmonious with electrical field of human body.  Bruce Tainio of Tainio Technology in Cheny, WA developed new equipment to measure the biofrequency of humans and foods.  Below are measures of the relationship between frequency and disease obtained by his biofrequency monitor.  Some results are shown below:

Disease and frequency

  • Human Brain                                 72-80 MHz
  • Human Body (day)                     62-68 MHz
  • Cold Symptoms                           58 MHz
  • Flu Symptoms                              57 MHz
  • Candida                                           55 MHz
  • Cancer                                             42 MHz
  • Death Begins                                25 MHz

Nutrients and frequency

  • Processed/canned food          0 MHz
  • Fresh Produce                              up to 15 MHz
  • Dry Herbs                                       12 – 22 MHz
  • Fresh Herbs                                   20 – 27 MHz
  • Essential Oils                                 52- 320 MHz

How do essential oils affect the brain?

The blood brain barrier is the barrier membrane between the circulating blood and the brain that prevents certain damaging substances from reaching brain tissue and cerebrospinal fluid.  High levels of sesquiterpenes, found in the essential oils of frankincense and sandalwood, help increase the amount of oxygen in the limbic system of the brain, particularly around the pineal and pituitary glands.  This leads to an increase in secretions of antibodies, endorphins and neurotransmitters.

Also present in the limbic system of the brain is a gland called the amygdala.  In 1989, it was discovered that the amygdala plays a major role in the storing and releasing of emotional trauma.  The only way to stimulate this gland is with fragrance or the sense of smell.  Therefore, with aromatherapy and essential oils, we are now able to release emotional trauma.

Do you have a physical store that we can visit?

At the moment, we are purely online, but we do sell through many reputable healthcare practitoners. Click here to find a practitioner in your area: locator

Do you have a minimum order?

We welcome orders of any size and do not any criteria for how often orders are placed.

Can your oils be ingested?

We do not advise consuming the oils internally. It is not a matter of quality – our oils are pure, with food grade quality. We just have found that most people are so digestively impaired that topical application or inhalation is much more effective.

Do I need to dilute Vibrant Blue Oils blends?

Diluting is a personal choice and depends on each individual. We always recommend diluting the oils to start, then working up to full potency. If an essential oil feels too hot or causes any redness, dilute immediately with a carrier oil, like olive or coconut oil; you can apply it directly on top of the essential oil. The carrier oil will dilute the essential oil and cause slower absorption. This will also diminish or stop the irritation while continuing to provide the therapeutic benefits of the oil. After you have applied enough carrier oil to stop the reaction, you can then use soap and water to wash it all off. Water does not work as well initially for an essential oil reaction as it traps the oil against the skin and can increase irritation.

What size are your bottles?

Vibrant Blue Oils are all available in the 5 ml size. We have found that oils work so effectively that they often are not required for long term use. A blend can work perfectly for several months, but as your health continues to shift and improve, the old blend gradually ceases to yield the same beneficial results. For this reason, it is important to retest and switch up oils fairly regularly.

This understanding drove our decision to market our blends in 5 ml bottles, which has been known to provide the optimal dosage necessary for a shift. Some clients will see amazing results from a favorite blend for years, while others will shift every few months. The 5 ml bottles provide the optimal ability to shift oils frequently with minimum financial hardship.

Are your oils Certified Organic?

Vibrant Blue Essential Oils are either Certified Organic (we have the certification on file), Organically Grown (grown organically but not certified, some countries do not offer this certification), or Wild (grown by nature). They are free from pesticides, chemical fertilizers, adulterants, and added synthetic chemicals.

How does Vibrant Blue source its oils?

Vibrant Blue Oils sources our therapeutic oils through numerous small organic farms, working directly with ethical producers around the world, including small villages and farmers, to insure the integrity and quality of the product.

We find that small farmers almost always take better care of their crops and this in turn produces a higher quality essential oil. Our Therapeutic Essential Oils are sold as single species plants from the same farm and distillation batch. They are free from pesticides, chemical fertilizers, adulterants, and added synthetic chemicals.

How do Essential Oils Work?

Essential Oils provide key components of the plants’ immune systems. They help the plants grow, thrive, evolve, and adapt to surroundings. For example, they protect plants from bacterial and viral infections, heal injuries, repel unwanted insects, prevent water loss and other environmental damage, play a role in plant pollination and deliver oxygen and nutrients into the cells. This is why they are “essential” for a plant — without them, plants could not survive.

In the human body, they play a similar role — transporting valuable nutrients to the cells. This is because the three primary elements – carbon, hydrogen and oxygen – are common to both human beings and essential oils.

This shared chemistry makes essential oils highly compatible with human biochemistry. Essential oils are also lipid-soluble with a protein-like structure similar to human cells, making them even more compatible with human cells and tissues.

Since essential oils are bio-familiar to humans, they can also help balance and support the human body to heal itself. Research has shown that essential oils help us fight infection (with anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties), balance hormones and emotions and aid in regeneration. Essential oils also help the brain, reviving a tired mind and stimulating memory. Different fragrances of essential oils will relax, revitalize or renew your mind, body and soul.

How is Vibrant Blue different from other essential oil companies?

Vibrant Blue Oils is a small, Seattle-based company centered on the intention that a body in balance can heal.   We realize that essential oils are uniquely able to balance the mind, body and emotions, along with supporting symptoms to foster optimal healing and vibrant health.

Our approach to health centers on balancing critical organs and systems in the body:

  • Supporting Stress
  • Supporting Digestion
  • Healing the Gut
  • Balancing Blood Sugar
  • Supporting Detoxification
  • Supporting Sleep

We believe that when these systems and the organs that support them are in balance, the body can function optimally.

All of our blends and healing protocols are designed to support these underlying systems that keep the body in balance.

Because we are a small company with a specific healing focus, we choose to work through healthcare practitioners and select affiliate partners who have specific knowledge of and experience with the product. We have intentionally chosen not to add multiple levels to our organization as we want to remain closely connected to anyone using or promoting our product.

To that point, we are very committed to educating our customers on how to best support the underlying systems of optimal health with essential oils, diet, nutrition and lifestyle choices. We continually strive to improve our education and welcome your input and ideas

How do I use essential oils?

Essential oils can be absorbed into the body via:

  • Topical Application– Essential oils are fat soluble and easily pass through skin and cell membranes. Vibrant Blue Oils are designed for topical application. You can apply the oils directly on skin for rapid absorption throughout the body. Consult the Vibrant Blue Oils Usage Sheet for specific directions on where to apply each specific blend for optimal benefit. All oils can safely be applied on the bottom of the feet as the thick skin on the soles of our feet are unlikely to produce skin irritations and the numerous nerve endings on the feet can help carry the oils into the bloodstream very quickly. To treat a specific area like a sore muscle, rash, burn or wound, apply the oils directly on the problem spot. Other good areas for applying oils are the base of the throat, inside elbows and knees, and the nape of the neck. For hot oils, like Breathe or Immune Support, always dilute before applying on the body.
  • Inhalation— Research has shown that inhalation of essential oils links directly to the brain; particularly in regard to hormonal control and emotional regulation. For aromatic usage, simple hold the bottle under nose for 3 or 4 breaths. You can also put a drop of oil on a cotton ball that you place in your bra or in your pillow case before bed.
  • Internal Consumption— We do not recommend internal consumption of essential oils as we feel topical application is more effective, especially when digestion is impaired.  The sole exception is our Blood Sugar Balance blend which contains food based oils such as grapefruit, lemon, peppermint, cinnamon, celery and nutmeg.  Adding this oil to water can help curb cravings between meals.

How Much to Use? Less is More: Essential Oils are highly concentrated and extremely potent. A drop or two can produce significant results because an entire plant, when distilled, might produce only a single drop of essential oil. They are approximately 75-100 times more concentrated, and consequently far more potent, than dried herbs.

How to Dispense – Essential oils are best dispensed by holding the bottle of oil 1 to 4 inches above the fingers or palm of the other hand. Tip it over and wait for the oil to drip out. Some oils, like the Vibrant Blue Oil Calm and Sleep blends flow very quickly, while others are thicker and require a gentle shake. If possible, avoid touching the center of the drop dispenser — let the oil drip from the edge freely.

How do I dose essential oils?

Essential oils are supremely concentrated, so less is usually more. Generally, several drops in your palms, feet or on location will be sufficient. Oils should be diluted up to 30% for massage and more for children and certain pets. One drop per tablespoon or more of coconut oil or olive oil is recommended in several books for infants.

Should I avoid using any essential oils in the sun?

Some essential oils increase photosensitivity and should not be used before sun exposure. These include, but are not limited to: bergamot, bitter orange, clementine, grapefruit, lime, mandarin, orange and lemon.

What essential oils should I avoid during pregnancy?

There are many theories and thoughts on the use of oils during pregnancy, ranging from the idea that some oils are ok (non-hormone or stimulatory oils), to the idea that you should stay away from all oils. According to “Essential Oil Safety” by Robert Tissearnd, the following essential oils are contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation: Anise, Birch, Black Seed, Buchu, Carrot Seed, Cassia, Cinnamon Bark, Chaste Tree, Cypress, Fennel, Dill, Feverfew, Ho Leaf, Hyssop, Lanyana, Spanish Lavender, Mugwort, Myrrh, Myrtle, Oregano, Parsley Leaf, Parsleyseed, Pennyroyal, Rue, Sage (Dalmatian and Spanish), Savin, Tansy, Thuja, Western Red Cedar, Wintergreen, Wormwood (all types) and Yarrow.

The other concern is that pregnancy is a particularly vulnerable time, as we know that what the mother eats or detoxifies can be passed to the developing fetus. We believe that essential oils naturally detoxify the body. This is normally a healthy reaction. But during pregnancy, there is the concern that the toxins that are released might impact the developing fetus. For that reason, we personally do not feel comfortable recommending any essential oils during pregnancy.

We encourage you to do your own research and consult with your healthcare practitioner on essential oil usage during pregnancy.

Are allergies a concern with essential oils?

People have allergic reactions to many different substances, including essential oils. It is worth testing the essential oil before applying a large amount. Blend 1 drop of essential oil with about 10 drops of a base oil such as coconut oil and apply to the inside of your forearm. If your skin turns red, please do not use this essential oil.

How do Essential Oils kill different kinds of fungi, bacteria, and viruses?

Extensive studies have discussed the antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antimicrobial properties of many essential oils. Research published by the university of Georgia, Weber State University, the Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association, and numerous other journals have documented the ability of essential oils to kill many strains of fungi, viruses, and gram negative and positive bacteria. Some of these include Staphylococcus pneumonia (responsible for lung and throat infections), Herpes simplex, Salmonella, typhosas, and Pseudomonas aeroginosa.

An interesting study compared a standard medical treatment of acne, benzoyl peroxide, a topical antibiotic, with tea tree essential oil. Both treatments worked equally well, although the chemical treatment had more side-effects of skin scaling, dryness, redness, stinging and burning than the tea tree oil.  The essential oil took more time to work, but the lack of adverse side-effects was thought to make up for its slow onset.

In a Russian study on humans, doctors tried essential oils of peppermint, lemon, sage and lavender on patients with chronic bronchitis, residing in a health resort.  They found that inhaling the oils speeded up conventional treatments offered in the resort, as well as demonstrating anti-inflammatory responses

Research in the 1970’s had demonstrated that the essential oils of thyme, oregano, turmeric, savory, rosemary and sage, all containing thymol, were effective against Cl. botulinum (source of botulism) and staphylococcus aureus (staph infections), as well as other organisms.  This is particularly important because in hospitals, certain strains of staph have become so virulent, from overuse of antibiotics, that there is only one antibiotic left that will kill them. When the staph germs become resistant to that, they say, there will be nothing that can work.  However, essential oils do not create such a resistance; they remain effective.  In other words, bacteria and viruses do not adapt or create resistance to essential oils; they simply die, and the body’s immune system is enhanced rather than depleted.  Thymol, as contained in the oils we just mentioned and others as well, also inhibits the growth of and toxin production of various molds.

How are Essential Oils an antioxidant?

Essential oils are very powerful antioxidants.   Antioxidants create an unfriendly environment for free radicals.  Antioxidants prevent all mutations, work as free radical scavengers, prevent fungus, and prevent oxidation in the cells.  Essential oils contain oxygen molecules that help to transport nutrients to the starving human cells.  Because a nutritional deficiency is an oxygen deficiency, disease begins when the cells lack the oxygen for proper nutrient assimilation.  By providing the needed oxygen, essential oils also work to stimulate the immune system.

Today is it very important to get antioxidants into our diet. We are educated continually on how they cleanse the body of free radicals which helps slow the aging process and prevent cancer. Well, essential oils are a great source of antioxidants. For example, clove oil is extremely high in antioxidants. Consider this….to get an equivalent of the antioxidants in an ounce of clove oil, you would need 450 pounds of carrots, 120 quarts of blueberries, or 48 gallons of beet juice!

Recommended Safety Procedures?

It’s important to exercise care with your essential oils because they are so potent and volatile. Essential oils can dissolve plastic bottles, and too much light could degrade the oil’s potency, so you need to store them in a cool, dark place and in a dark glass bottle. You also need to pay close attention to the shelf life. Some oils last less than a year, while others are good for a few.

You need to use extra caution if you have children or pets in the house. In proper dosages, essential oils are extremely beneficial, but they can be toxic to small children or pets if they take too much of it. Just keep it out of their reach and you should be fine.

Essential oils are flammable. Keep them out of the way of fire hazards.

What are essential oils?

Essential oils are the natural, highly concentrated essences extracted from specific herbs in their living state for their healing capabilities. Essential oils can be derived from plants, shrubs, flowers, grasses, fruits, bushes, seeds, roots, bark and trees

How long does the effect of the oil last?

Essential oils can last between 12 – 24 hours in the body.  Certain factors, such as viscosity, concentration, application method (topical or inhalation), skin type and the area of the body where the oils were applied, can extend or diminish the therapeutic duration. In addition, the condition of the skin affects the degree to which oils are absorbed. For example, a hot bath hydrates the skin making it more permeable for the oils. In addition, dry, cracked or damaged skin can also be more permeable, so essential oils should be applied cautiously.

How long does a bottle last?

A 5 ml bottle contains about 85 drops so it depends on how many drops you are using per day, but we find that when used together, both last a little over 2 months.

Essential Oils do not come with an expiration date, but optimum shelf life is approximately two years. After this time they lose some of their potency. Citrus oils (orange, lemon, lime, etc.) tend to degrade most quickly (six month shelf life). However, some essential oils, such as Rose, Jasmine, Eucalyptus, Patchouli and Cypress actually become more potent with age.

The blue glass makes it tricky to see how much is left in the bottle so it’s best to hold the bottle up to bright light. The blue glass is transparent enough to show the product level. Without backlighting, it is difficult to tell.

How do I store my essential oils?

Keep bottles of essential oils tightly closed and store them in a cool, dry, dark place away from sunlight or heat. If stored properly, most essential oils will maintain their potency for many years.

Vibrant Blue Oils are packaged in cobalt blue bottles that block out damaging light and radiation. The blue glass will only reflect the natural energy state of the oil within the bottle.

How many oils can I use at once?

Essential oils are very powerful, and less is often more. We recommend starting slowly, not applying more than 3 different oils at the same time. Different oils can be rotated in throughout the day, including parasympathetic before meals and circadian rhythm before bed, but the general rule is that less is more.

What safety guidelines do you suggest with essential oils?

Essential Oils are relatively safe when used appropriately.   We recommend that you:

  • Keep essential oils out of reach of children. Treat them as you would any product for therapeutic use.
  • Essential oils rich in menthol, such as peppermint, should not be used on throat and neck area of children under 18 months of age.
  • Keep essential oils away from the eye area and never put them directly into the ears. Do not handle contact lenses with essential oils on your fingers. Even in minute amounts, many essential oils can damage contacts and will irritate eyes.
  • Pregnant woman should always consult their healthcare professional when starting any type of health program.
  • Epileptics and those with high blood pressure should consult their healthcare professional before using essential oils.
  • People with allergies should test a small amount of oil on area of sensitive skin, such as the inside of the upper arm, for 30 minutes before applying the oil on others of the body.
  • The bottom of the feet is one of the safest, most effective places, to use essential oils.
  • Dry, cracked or damaged skin can also be more permeable, so essential oils should be applied cautiously.
  • Keep essential oils away from open flames, sparks or electricity. Some essential oils, including Orange, Fir, Pine and Peppermint are potentially flammable.
  • If an essential oil causes any discomfort or skin irritation, apply another oil, such as olive oil or coconut oil to dilute the essential oils. Do not apply water as this will trap the oil against the skin and can increase irritation.
  • When adding essential oils to the bath, we advise mixing the oil into bath salts such as Epson salt. When essential oils are put directly into bathwater they can float, undiluted on top of the water and adhere to the skin. Generally, never use more than 10 drops of essential oil in a bath
