Why I Primarily Sell Essential Oil Blends

The most potent therapeutic results are obtained when individual essential oils are blended with other essential oils. This has been demonstrated in countless research studies, as well as in my personal experience and that of the thousands of practitioners who work with our oils.

It is undoubtedly true that individual essential oils, like Lavender™, Helichrysm™ and Frankincense™, are potent and possess many healing properties. And yet, when those individual oils are combined into blends, those healing properties are significantly amplified and enhanced. It is almost like a good marriage or friendship—the combination of the two energies significantly enhances both individuals.

You might think of individual essential oils as individual instruments. A blend is more like a symphony, where the individual oils respond to each other and adjust their individual frequencies to form a harmonious, coherent, functional blend designed to serve a particular function, like balancing an organ system or region of the brain.

Synergy of Essential Oil Blends

Essential oils combined into a blend can result in an entirely new molecular composition where the sum is greater than the parts. This is a synergy between oils, which renders blends more effective than individual oils.

The term “synergy” means “working together in harmony” and is based on complex interactions among the many constituents of the individual plants from which the oils are derived, giving rise to its unique characteristics and healing properties. Each essential oil has many compounds with beneficial and healing properties and weaker and less beneficial components. Combining these essential oils allows one oil to balance out the weaker parts of another and even negates the possible side effects that oil could have if applied on its own. For this reason, oils that might be contra-indicated for certain conditions when used individually pose little to no threat when mixed into a blend.

When you blend essential oils, the chemical constituents in individual oils can enhance the other oils in the blend. For example, combining oils high in antimicrobial chemical components, like an essential oil rich in thymol with an essential oil rich in eugenol, will create a highly effective antimicrobial product, like our Immune Support™ blend.

Research comparing the antimicrobial activity of clove and rosemary essential oils alone and in combination found that while “both essential oils possessed significant antimicrobial effects against all microorganisms tested,” the oils in combination “indicated their additive, synergistic or antagonistic effects against individual microorganism tests.” More specifically, when the two individual oils were combined, they exerted additive antimicrobial effects against several strains of bacteria, a synergistic effect against Candida albicans but an antagonistic effect against Aspergillus.

Essential oil blends may also enhance each other’s therapeutic properties. For example, the anti-inflammatory effect of Roman Chamomile is amplified when mixed with Lavender™. The interaction between these two oils creates a noticeably more substantial impact. Research also shows that caraway’s spasmolytic effects are enhanced by peppermint’s spasmolytic effects in relieving irritable bowel and dyspepsia.

Blends to Support Organ Systems and Regions of the Brain

It is worth noting that most research on the effectiveness of essential oils in balancing organ systems and regions of the brain examines combinations of certain oils (blends), not individual oils.

I have often found that an oil not commonly associated with a specific organ may work well in a blend because a compound acting alone can behave very differently in combination with other oils. Other essential oils researchers back up this finding as well. In The Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple, David Stewart writes that single oils can “adjust their vibrations to play in harmony with the rest of the family of compounds that define the blend.”

Stewart further notes that “molecules of essential oils resonate with your tissues at the frequency of healthy tissue, which restores the organ to its natural, healthy state.” This is precisely what we are doing with Vibrant Blue Oils: creating blends that match the frequency or vibration of healthy organ tissue, including specific tissue in regions of the brain, like the Hypothalamus™ and Pineal Gland (supported by Circadian Rhythm®).

How Do Frequency and Resonance Work with Essential Oil Blends?

Stewart explains that when opera singers shatter crystal, it is because of a principle known as resonance, where two things vibrate in unison and match frequencies. If the opera singer could perfectly match the tone of a piece of crystal, the glass would break. It was the resonance that shattered the glass, not just the volume. If he sang a note that did not match the frequency of the crystal, the glass would not shatter, no matter how loudly he sang.

“Essential oils work similarly. Your body’s organs, tissues, and cells possess certain pitches or fundamental frequencies. Oil molecules that resonate at the frequency of your pancreas will administer therapy there,” according to Stewart.

Swiss researcher Hans Jenny found that each organ in the body makes sound at specific frequencies. The sound is not audible to the human ear, but the vibrations of the sound are measurable. Jenny found that when an organ malfunctions, it no longer emits the healthy sound frequency. He then employed the principle of resonance, aiming specific, audible, high-intensity sound frequencies at the organ; he could, in essence, reboot the organ and return it to health.

In The Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple, David Stewart explains, “the sick organs were out of tune and in a state of dissonance. By coming into a place of resonance with the healthy (sound) frequencies,” they would return to balance and health. “That is what essential oils do. They work – by resonance with organs, cells, and even our thoughts and emotions.

This is where the true potential of essential oils lies: in using them to reboot different organs or regions of the brain to return to balance. Much as you might reboot your phone or computer when glitches appear, essential oil blends that match the frequency of healthy organs and regions of the brain can be inhaled or topically applied to return the body to homeostasis, in essence, rebooting our body’s computer.

Why I Primarily Sell Essential Oil Blends

Two oils blended to enhance each other to enable you to use less while producing better results. For example, a single drop of a blended oil comprised of 8 different oils consistently seems to work better than eight drops of 8 different oils. When combined, the oils create a synergy that differs from the benefits of the individual oils.

For example, if you needed five drops of Peppermint™ to give pain relief before blending OR 10 drops of Marjoram when you combined the two in a 1:1 ratio, you may only need three drops of the new synergy blend, like Nerve Repair™ to get the same pain relief.

While blends are potent, I do not recommend you try this yourself, as ratios and portions can impact the synergy between oils. For example, the synergistic effect of 10 drops of Lavender™ oil to 2 drops of Rose™ may not be the same as two drops of Rose™ to 10 drops of Lavender™. Although the same oils are used in the blend, the synergism of the individual components of the oils will be in different proportions and may give entirely different results.

This is the key reason we formulate and sell our proprietary Vibrant Blue Oils blends—to alleviate the potential for inconsistencies in DIY blends. Similarly, the order in which oils are combined can impact the synergy and effectiveness of blends.
