Releasing Anger with Essential Oils

By Jodi Cohen

Embracing freedom and nature with open arms atop a scenic overlook.

Do you ever have those grumpy days?

You know the ones, where someone cuts you off in traffic and before you know it, a string of four letter words fall out of your mouth.  Or you find yourself getting upset over something really minimal, like your kids making a mess or a silly miscommunication.

I’ve definitely been there.

And based on the emails and private messages I’ve been receiving this week, it sounds like a lot of you have been having that day.  Or that week.

It might not be a mere coincidence that all this anger and frustration is bubbling up at this time of the year.  You see, according to Chinese medicine, spring is liver season and the emotion associated with the liver is anger.

I read recently that the season of spring is the time for things find their way to the surface. The sap of a tree reverses its directional flow upwards in the spring.  Similarly, liver emotions like anger, impatience, frustration, resentment, rudeness, edginess, arrogance and aggression bubble up to the surface.

Sound familiar?

It certainly was ringing true in our house.

Releasing Anger with Essential Oils

My very sweet son was being unusually ornery, picking fights with his sister, getting frustrated easily, and over reacting to situations.  At the same time, I was noticing that his feet had developed a strong odor, which is often symptomatic of liver overload.

I was explaining to his sister that he is not unkind, but merely having a hard time controlling his anger, when it occurred to me that our Essential Oil blend for releasing the anger associated with the liver might help him.

I asked him to smell it and while he didn’t love it, he didn’t push it away in disgust either.  Thus began my experiment.  I have been having him smell and rub the Liver Support™ blend over his liver every morning before school this week.  It’s been interesting to watch as he is kinder to his sister and his peers.  I just got a sweet email from his teacher that his behavior has improved this week.  And his feet smell better too!

If you are noticing some anger or irritation bubbling to the surface in your world, consider the Liver Support™ blend.  If you are interested in learning more about the correlation between emotions and organs, please feel free to reply below or join our Facebook Discussion Group.
