Moving Through Life Transitions
I read somewhere that astrologically March is a huge month for transitions. That has certainly been the case for me. I am going through big transitions in the business, with my home and even with my relationships. Moving through life transitions can be eased by using Essential Oils.
I’m not going to lie. Change can feel really destabilizing and scary. We get super attached to our routines, our patterns, our friends and we sometimes start to let them define us.
I know I am guilty of that. I used to define myself as a marathon runner and when my knees and lower back started complaining, it felt like I was losing a part of my identity when I stepped away from it. This is not necessarily because I lived to run 12 miles every weekend (although the endorphin rush was pretty awesome). I think it was more because that was one of the ways I defined myself. I run marathons which in my mind translated to I am strong and resilient. It was an identity I liked to carry like a badge of honor.
But, as Julie Andrews says in the Sound of Music, “When God closes a door, he always opens a window.” The time I used to spend running 8- 12 miles per weekend can now be dedicated to other passions and hobbies in (including yoga, nutrition and essential oils) that area better fit for my life today.
Essential Oils to Support Transitions
I keep trying to hold this concept in my heart. That change really opens us up for the next opportunity. That when you clean out the room of all furniture, it allows you to see it in a different way and opens you up to possibilities that may not have been in your consideration set. In addition to my “embrace the change” mantra (often hummed repetitively in my head to the tune of “The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music”), some oils I have found helpful include:
Liver Support™ – We often carry fear and anger in our liver and gall bladder. This oil blend was specifically designed to help release and move through those emotions
Parasympathetic® – the more in balance we feel in our own internal bodies, the more steady we can hold ourselves in the face of external change.
Adrenal® – this blend brings our adrenal glands into balance and helps them, and us, stay steady, in the face of transitions.
Hypothalamus™ – Our hypothalamus is the key organ for sending and receiving messages from the body. When several high stress messages are received in rapid succession, it can exhaust the hypothalamus can throw it off balance. The hypothalamus blend helps put us back in balance.
Tapping – In addition to the oils, I am a big fan of Tapping, otherwise known as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and often combine them with the oils. For those of you who are not familiar with tapping, this great video explains the key tapping points and how this acupressure technique helps clear energy meridians and shift emotional blocks
Forgiveness – I have always loved the Hawaiian culture and embraced their tradition of Ho’oponopono means to make right or love and forgive yourself and others, even those who are not treating you well. There are many ways to do this, but the ritual I use is to look in the mirror and say to myself:
I love you
I forgive you
I bless you
You can also visualize anyone in your life with whom you would like to shift the energy and imagine saying that to them.
