Supporting Weight Loss by Balancing Blood Sugar

By Jodi Cohen

A smiling woman in sportswear celebrating her success while standing on a weighing scale.

Over the past few months, I have noticed the weight pack on, especially around my waistline despite little change in my diet or exercise routine.   When my usual tricks of removing coffee, dairy and gluten didn’t work, I started to dig deeper to the possible underlying cause. Essential Oils for weight loss can help solve this issue.

Disrupted blood sugar from excess stress or carbohydrate consumption is often a key catalyst for weight gain, especially in the middle region.  The key organs of blood sugar regulation are the Adrenal®, Pancreas™ and Liver™.

When people think of blood sugar related weight gain, they often think of insulin resistance – a state where the cells fail to respond to insulin’s effort to bring glucose (energy) into the cells.

This triggers a reaction where the pancreas works harder to create more insulin in an attempt to get it to work better.  The challenge is that insulin serves as a fat-storing hormone, so the more of it that circulates in the body, the harder it becomes to burn fat. High levels of insulin can lead to extra weight around the belly and make you feel tired, bloated and crave sugar.  If these symptoms speak to you, consider the Blood Sugar Support Kit™.

Another key organ to consider for metabolism functions is the Liver™.  It plays a major role in weight loss and lasting weight control.

When we think of breaking down fats for digestion, we often think of the Gall Bladder™ which stores the bile needed break down fats in the small intestine.  After all, fat cannot be emulsified without enough bile present.  That means that the bile most flow freely from the gall bladder.  It also means that the liver needs to be producing enough bile for the gall bladder to store.

If the liver is not working optimally, optimal quantities bile cannot be produced and fat will not be properly processed but stored often as a roll of fat around the waistline.  This is often known as “fatty liver”.

When the liver is overloaded (toxic), every organ in a person’s body is affected and weight loss efforts are blocked.    Among the signs of a toxic liver are weight gain, cellulite, abdominal bloating, indigestion, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, fatigue, mood swings, depression and skin rashes.   Some of the stressors of the liver are caffeine, alcohol, sugar, trans fats, medications (prescription and over the counter), and inadequate fiber.  chemicals, toxins, drugs and heavy metals.

In order to do its job and catch up, the liver needs to deal with less incoming toxins (read caffeine, sugar, alcohol dairy, grains, anything not found in nature that requires more work to process) along with nutrients and energetic frequencies to support its vitality.

This is why people often lose weight on detox diets.  Caloric intake obviously drops, you are also getting out of the liver’s way so it can do its job properly.  When you finally give the liver a break, it is then able to play catch up and process through that roll of fat around your waste.

Essential Oils for Weight Loss

To help put the body back in balance, it is ideal to move towards a clean, low carbohydrate diet that removes all stressors to the liver (alcohol, caffeine, sugar, dairy, grains).  This impeccable diet should be strictly followed for a period of at least two to three weeks.   Also consider the following oils:

Liver™

Helps support optimal health and vitality of the liver.  This is a great blend to support any kind of digestive repair effort that would release extra toxins (like yeast die off), a detox cleanse or for anyone who demonstrates liver stress symptoms like sensitivity to smells (smoke, perfume, etc) and or chemicals or those who are easily intoxicated or hung over.

Liver Support™

Can support the release of emotions related to the liver, including the feelings of frequent irritation, impatience, resentment or frustration, being critical of yourself or others, demonstrating control issues, an inability to express your feelings in a grounded/balanced way, a lack of joy, feelings of not feeling heard, not feeling loved, not being recognized or appreciated or any issues with denial such as an inability to be honest with yourself and others.

Gall Bladder™

Supports the flow of bile and with it toxins out of the body. The Gall Bladder concentrates the bile to help break down fat and carry toxins out of the body.  If the bile becomes too thick, it doesn’t flow as well and toxins don’t move out of the system as efficiently.  Some indicators that Gall Bladder Flow might be a helpful blend for you would be motion sickness, floating stools, avoiding fatty food like meat or if you do eating fatty food, needing to use the restroom shortly after, pain between shoulder blades, subtle headache above eyes.

Pancreas™

Tones and supports the pancreas in its release of insulin to transport the glucose into the cells.

Adrenal®

Helps to balance and support the adrenals for optimal function to better weather blood sugar imbalances and other stressors that exhaust the adrenals.  Every stress response is a blood sugar response and fatigued adrenal glands can drop cortisol, and blood sugar, levels.
